strawberry frozen yogurt

i got another treat for ya! not for some of you on the northern side of the world though, it's more for us in the tropical or summery areas. i have frozen yogurt here! with my favorite fruit, strawberry. if i take a look to these last few posts of mine in the blog, i have been making things with fruits lately.. or not? however, i am craving for cheesecake right now..

this month has been a wonderful month for me in the kitchen. it opens with two special birthdays which i got the chances to make birthday cakes for both of it and it turns out great. not to mention just yesterday i've managed to make a very freakin awesome Rilakkuma cupcakes for my friend's girlfriend. not to mention last wednesday i also made a batch of super giga delicious savory puff pastry tart, which result in me being praised by my bf's mom. say October is my lucky month! and to top it off, i am planning on making some halloween treats! i never made any before, so i guess it's time for me to start, don't you think?!

anyhow, back to this frozen yoghurt. this one is a recipe from David Lebovitz ice cream cookbook. it is still so far my favorite ice cream cookbook in the house. this fro-yo is tangy enough to brighten your day and refresh one dull day. as what he's said there '... this vibrantly colored frozen yogurt provides the biggest blast of strawberry flavor imaginable', i couldn't be more agree with his words.

cheesecake ice-cream

i was quite confuse with the weather lately. haha. there were some weeks ago where rain always come in the afternoon, pretty hard rain. but these couple weeks, the sun has been terribly scorching. maybe we are in the middle of monsoon (again), ah anyway who cares about the weather, it just makes me realize 'when was the last time i make ice-cream?'. everybody loves ice-cream in a hot sunny day, including me and my ice-cream machine. it has been neglected for months, i didn't even realize how much i miss him until yesterday..

i had some leftover strawberries in my fridge, of course from the strawberry friands which i posted last week. i didn't have any idea what to make with it again, i had no particular strawberry desire either that time. then i looked at my recipes bookshelf, i saw David Lebovitz's Perfect Scoop, then again realize i haven't tried any of the recipes in the book, so silly. i thought, i wouldn't go with just plain strawberry ice-cream, i've made it before! so my mind quickly decided strawberry cheesecake ice-cream will be perfect. actually, the main idea is to play with texture in the ice-cream. i wanted to add some chunks of cream cheese in my silky smooth ice-cream, just like i usually had my strawberry cheesecake ice-cream in gelato shop; not forgetting, some tangy slices of cooked strawberries in it as well. however, things didn't go as well as what i've planned, i didn't have enough cream cheese left to be chunked. so i just ended with some sliced strawberries there.

in case you wonder how to eat it differently, i have some tips for you. as what the name says, it's cheesecake ice-cream, i serve it like a cheesecake should be: graham crackers for the base, filling, completed with topping. so.. put 1 piece of any biscuits on your plate, scoop some ice cream over the biscuits, and drizzle a generous amount of jam or any topping you like on it, mine use blueberry jam. another thing i regret is i forgot to put mint leaves on top of my presentation! it makes me feel like missing something whenever i saw all this ice-cream photos, my bad. but anyway, for now let us enjoy this ice-cream altogether..

strawberry and vanilla ice cream

well actually this is quite a mistake to make an ice-cream in this chilly day but some weeks ago were so hot making me crave for an ice-cream. i've decided to make this strawberry-vanilla ice cream on those hot days and stocked my refrigerator with strawberries few days later. too bad the weather turns rainy again and today is freezing me. maybe i'm a little exaggerating, though. ha ha.

you know, i have some sort of (bad)habit. i always like to stock my refrigerator or baking shelf with stuffs just before i am having my exams. why? because i love to cheat with my study time, naughty me. ha ha. so anytime i need some break or a refreshment, i can rush to the kitchen and do something there. kitchen really has a magic in me. it can heal me, it can cure my mood. last friday, i found one day, one day when i could be free without thinking any of my examinations. i can freely be in the kitchen and i decided to make this strawberry and vanilla ice-cream.

it feels so nice to know that i can eat my own homemade ice cream at home. there are some issues spread about how some ice cream was made not in a very appropriate way and from a freakin' bad ingredients. it seems scary just to know it or even scarier when i noticed that they have ever stayed in my stomach! thus, i am thankful to have my own ice-cream machine and some great ingredients to make an ice-cream that is knowingly healthier.

by the way, do you wanna know something? well, it's a good news for me and hopefully for you too. this beloved blog, 'Mari Bermain di Dapur', just being listed in Indonesian Food Blog List by Bayu Amus at epicurina.com. i really am feeling so flattered and grateful for being listed there, how can i not be? there are still sooo many wonderful Indonesian blog out there waiting to be listed instead of me. well, it's still a good step though and if it's not because of you, all of my reader anywhere you are, this blog wouldn't be listed there. thank you so much and much and much! :)

cookies and cream ice cream

ice-cream again. hehe. i'm addicted on making ice-cream lately.. because making ice-cream gives me many left over egg whites so i can always learn how to make macarons (argh, i still talk about macarons until now). another reason why i love making ice-cream is just because ice-cream never lose its fans in my house.

cookies and cream is one of my favorite ice-cream flavor, i am so thankful now i can have it anytime i want. i am experimenting to create my favorite flavor of ice-cream this month, there will be lots of ice-cream recipe for August. i've stocked my fridge with litres of heavy cream. haha. however, non ice-cream people will still be able to enjoy other recipes. i've been planning to make bread, brulee, and some fruits dessert. i absolutely can't wait to make them all..

remember the burnt sugar ice-cream? i told you that maybe my ice-cream maker was broken, the fact is it wasn't broken. i just miscounted the time i should process my ice-cream so it hasn't finished its process when i froze them and i got the rough texture. today's ice-cream is really smooth and has a perfect texture. so grateful!

burnt sugar ice cream

hi again! i'd like to present an uber-delicious ice cream today. called: burnt sugar ice cream. this one has been hitting my house, it taste marvelous. little brother loves this so much that now he's finishing the last scoop directly from the ice-cream container. he literally loves this ice-cream so much.

what comes to your mind when you hear burnt sugar? mine thinks: caramel, sweet, smells good, brown, extremely delicious. i got this recipe from Dorie Greenspan through Tartelette. what i like about this recipe beside the taste is the process of making this ice-cream. the making of burnt sugar parts are totally fun for me, haha. you boil sugar and water until they become simple syrup and then let them simmer until they turn into dark amber color, beautiful! the next part is more interesting, when you pour in the milk into the burnt sugar and see how they bubble like mad. haha. call me freak, to be honest it's all because this was my first time pouring milk into the burnt sugar, never did that before. and when the milk and sugar incorporated all you can smell is heaven, your kitchen will definitely has a very delicate fragrance.

unfortunately, i thought something wrong was happening with my ice-cream maker. it couldn't give me the beautiful texture of ice-cream like the first time i bought and used it. the texture is somehow rougher now even though the ice-cream is still being produced better than using the manual technic. anyway, this ice-cream still tastes great.

apple crumbles with vanilla ice-cream

apples..
i'm cooking with apples again and i feel glad. wanna know the reason i made this apple crumbles? it's all because of twitter. my friend, who is studying in australia, post a picture of apple crumbles that she ate there. my cousin who lives there also ever told my mom about a delicious apple strudels there. me curious? definitely.

this recipe was formulated by my self, i'm quite satisfied. all i know about fruit crumbles are fruits-filling topped with shortcrust-like crumbs. when it comes to apples, cinnamon is their spouse. apple and cinnamon are perfect match. i really love them paired. as a conclusion, i used them as the filling. the topping were just butter, sugar, and flour crumbed together.

if apple and cinnamon are soulmate, ice-cream perhaps is their child. haha. there's always an excuse to serve apple desserts with ice-cream, for example: apple strudel with ice cream, apple pie with ice cream, apple cake with ice cream, fried apple with ice cream, and so on and so forth. so i guess it would be more delish if i also make vanilla ice-cream to be my apple crumbles' companion. i made this ice-cream a day before. yum! all of them taste so comforting..

blueberry frozen yoghurt

for nearly about these past 3 years, teenagers in my country have some kind like frozen-yoghurt fever. since the first fro-yo parlor has been opened, there's always been a long line to buy the fro-yo. and now, we have more than lots of fro-yo parlor almost in every shopping centers, each one has at least 1 and it's not impossible to have more than 3.  me, my self, must admit that i am also a fan of frozen yoghurt with variants of toppings, fruit toppings are my favorite. from the day i learned how to cook, i have always been very curious on how to make foods that i like, including this frozen yoghurt.

it was my dream to have an ice-cream maker, because i scream for ice-cream pretty often. my dream has just came true 2 weeks ago, i finally bought an ice-cream maker with my own savings. tee-hee! i've tried two recipes already, but just satisfied with one of them, this one. blueberry frozen yoghurt. i've made mint chocolate-chip ice-cream but turns out i don't really like the eggy taste there. forgive me as an asian who was destined to like light dishes, the super eggy style ice-cream is just not my type. i can tolerate egg yolk contained in an ice-cream but please no yolks. this fro-yo recipe has no egg in it and i love it. maybe i should try to modified some ice-cream recipe to match my taste from now on.

chocolate ice-cream pancakes

few weeks ago, there's one recipe spread in KBB mailing list, it was this pancake.. this pancake recipe was taken from Alton-Brown Instant Pancake Mix recipe. modified by some of the KBB members, the original recipe makes a lot of pancake which my family won't be able to eat them out in one day. so i made very small amount of this pancake, it still could feed 3 regular-hunger stomach, i guess. hehe.

remember my last post about apple and cream cheese cake? i said i have no ice-cream in my fridge. yesterday, mom bought 4 litres Haagen Dazs. who can't resist Haagen Dazs?! coincidentally it can topped my pancake also.. mom bought 3 flavors of ice-cream, the one i chose is the chocolate chocolate-chip ice-cream. more to go, i added grated dark-chocolate and chocolate syrup. so today's breakfast menu is pancakes topped with 1 scoop of chocolate ice cream, grated dark-chocolate and chocolate syrup. extremely chocolate..

about the pancakes themselves, i don't know whether i made them in the right texture or not, all i know that this is one delicious pancakes recipe. i ever made pancake before but it was not as delicious as this. i think you should try this yourselves and prove their deliciousness. hihi.
