Lemon Lemon Pound Cake

this one is a revisit from the elder and the more original version, 'Sweetened Condensed Milk Pound Cake' from Table for 2.. or more. as what i've mentioned on my last pineapple tarts post, about lemon and my preferences, i couldn't stop my self from thinking about lemon flavor and i think aside than making it as lemon curd, i have another favorite way which is lemon cake. i really have a slight addiction to any lemon (all type of) cake, be it pound cake, cupcake, sponge cake, roll cake, you name it. that's clearly the reason why i made this cake and post it.

another reason is because, the post i posted before just didn't do any justice about the cake. it's the ugliest pound cake i ever seen perhaps, it was a long time before i know that a pound cake should stand up tall and proud. back then, i was planning to make a smaller version of it so i poured less batter to the normal size tin. i should've known that in order to pour smaller amount of batter you need a smaller tin too, that way your cake will still be pretty to see and savor. now that i've understood about it, i poured all the batter into the tin and make it bigger simply because i still haven't bought the smaller tin yet. LOL.

this cake is so awesome! totally in love with this. with the addition of lemon zest, lemon juice, candied lemon peel (though it didn't really seen) and lemon crunch icing, it took this cake to another level of flavor. the cake itself is so moist and tender and smell the best. even though you see that i might be slightly over browning the cake, it doesn't have that tough crust that you hate to chew, they are still incredibly soft. i bet nobody would hate this cake, so it's a safe choice for anyone who want to impress someone with a baking skill.

happy belated independence day with red velvet cupcakes

as what i've promised you before. wait for my red velvet cupcakes, this is the red velvet cupcakes. however, i'm not quite happy with the flavor and also the texture, i must have done some wrong again. but according to my research, many many people love red velvet cake. i should try making it again later.

and this is my red velvet shoes. i want to make my cake as cute as the shoes but i just can't, the limitation of time and equipment killed the chance. lol. so i should just feel happy and thankful with those messy cupcakes. i want to present them as an Independence Day gift, which has been late for exactly 2 weeks. so sorry, Indonesia. but at least it still on August and it still looks red and white.

i got this recipe from Sprinkle Bakes, another crazily amazing blog. she gives a lot of inspiration! please check it out.. and for now i think i won't blab too much, i'm not really in the mood of blabbering so i hope you'll just jump out to the recipe and excuse my self for posted such a short post today. at last, HAPPY BELATED INDEPENDENCE DAY INDONESIA, may you grow into a much more better country!

sweetened condensed milk pound cake

hey readers.. guess what! i'm done with all my projects, there's only one thing left for me, my exams. but fortunately, i managed to make 4 different desserts this month. prepare for it! i've posted a bougatsa for you last week and this week is pound cake's turn. hurray!

i got this recipe from Wendy in Table for 2.... or more. she invented this recipe and call it Sweetened Condensed Milk Pound Cake. the reason is simple, it is made from sweetened condensed milk. i grew up as a big fan of sweetened condensed milk, chocolate and vanilla, both has their own place in my heart. they always smell so good and always make everything sweeter. i have never imagined on using it in a pound cake until i saw Wendy's recipe. then i started to think, maybe they will match perfectly. too bad, it isn't taste that fantastic. i think i might need to add extra sauce to pour on it, or maybe adding some chocolate chips in the batter. the cake just taste so plain and boring for me because i ate it without any complementary dish. however, eating this with a cup of coffee would be a perfect way to savor this cake, just like wendy did.

out of this cake topic, i am planning my self on joining The Daring Bakers, but somehow feels a little intimidated. i am feeling quite nervous with the recipes they usually make as a challenge. it feels too complicated and i am not dared enough to make it. haha. i should join it though, but not today nor tomorrow. i think maybe next month or next two month or three. well just wait and see.. hahaha. for this moment, let's be simple and enjoy this pound cake.. :)

peanut cupcakes

hello. i'm starting to welcome 2011, may it bring us more prosperity. anyway, i made this cupcakes for my brother's birthday cake. it's supposed to be 12 cupcakes in a tier but there's only 2 left and that's all i can take to show them to you through my lens. wew, i don't want to do a comment on this, but my writing today feels a little different than usual. i am writing this post in 10 am in the morning in heavy rain and cold breeze. i love this condition, if only i have a nice cup of hot chocolate beside me this will be a bliss.

my brother is only 9 years old, he hasn't reached a stage where boys are afraid to nuts. according to some information, nuts can cause acnes and it's so funny that boys nowadays are taking a little more care about their appearance. in the other hand, my brother loves peanut, peanut brittle to be exact. he's a big fan of peanut, butterscotch, and caramel. so this cake is specially requested by him.

luckily, i have a peanut cupcakes recipe with caramel frosting. perfect combo. the recipe turns out nice as well, lovely taste. i decorated the cupcakes with choco-balls and carefully piped the frosting with star nozzle tip. the result is pretty decent and i quite like it at least i piped better than usual. i cut a lot amount of sugar from this recipe and i'm sure it's better this way. do you like peanut and caramel? you may try this recipe and find out the wonderfulness.

apple and cream cheese cake

hello! :)
today i made apple and cream cheese cake. actually i have no plan making this cake, it just popped up in my mind last night because there's a leftover cream-cheese in my fridge and some tart apples. i like it though, the perfect combination of apples and cinnamon, as usual.

however, this is a butter cake. a cake that consists of a lot of butter as it main ingredients and i'm kinda sick with this type of cake since almost all of my cupcakes recipes are butter cakes. i've been loving the chiffon or angel food cake texture lately, they're lighter not like butter cake which are heavier in texture.

fortunately my daddy loves this cake, so does my sister. they said it would taste better if topped with vanilla ice cream or cold whipped cream. i couldn't be more agree with them! it must be more delicious with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. sadly, i don't have any of them with me..
