happy belated independence day with red velvet cupcakes

as what i've promised you before. wait for my red velvet cupcakes, this is the red velvet cupcakes. however, i'm not quite happy with the flavor and also the texture, i must have done some wrong again. but according to my research, many many people love red velvet cake. i should try making it again later.

and this is my red velvet shoes. i want to make my cake as cute as the shoes but i just can't, the limitation of time and equipment killed the chance. lol. so i should just feel happy and thankful with those messy cupcakes. i want to present them as an Independence Day gift, which has been late for exactly 2 weeks. so sorry, Indonesia. but at least it still on August and it still looks red and white.

i got this recipe from Sprinkle Bakes, another crazily amazing blog. she gives a lot of inspiration! please check it out.. and for now i think i won't blab too much, i'm not really in the mood of blabbering so i hope you'll just jump out to the recipe and excuse my self for posted such a short post today. at last, HAPPY BELATED INDEPENDENCE DAY INDONESIA, may you grow into a much more better country!

carrot cupcakes

hello again, it seems so long from my last post. here i am again, trapped in a crazy college-thingy, from final projects to exams. well, my theoretical exams will start from Jan 28 but the practical starts tomorrow. ha ha. from the beginning of January up to yesterday, i've been struggling with 2 of my hectic projects. fortunately, i could still find some spare time to waste in the kitchen.

i have a very deary bestfriend, K., she's having her 20th birthday last Saturday and she's a very huge fan of my cakes. any cakes! that's why i really love making anything for her, she knows how to appreciate it the best. however, sometimes i feel a little confuse whether she really likes the cake i made or she's just complimenting me because she doesn't want to let me down, she still gives some critics though.

K. loves carrot cakes, her aunt lives in Maryland and K. often visits her. K. said that she couldn't find carrot cakes that tastes like the one she usually eats in Maryland. i once took her to a pastry shop here in Jakarta and we had a slice of carrot cake but she wasn't a big fan of it. at first, i couldn't stand the idea of putting carrots into a cakes batter, how will it tastes? but when i ate it, i like it. so i decided to make it twice, first one to taste and the second is for K.'s birthday presents. it turns out soooo good, even better than the one i had with her on that pastry shop. here's the recipe..

peanut cupcakes

hello. i'm starting to welcome 2011, may it bring us more prosperity. anyway, i made this cupcakes for my brother's birthday cake. it's supposed to be 12 cupcakes in a tier but there's only 2 left and that's all i can take to show them to you through my lens. wew, i don't want to do a comment on this, but my writing today feels a little different than usual. i am writing this post in 10 am in the morning in heavy rain and cold breeze. i love this condition, if only i have a nice cup of hot chocolate beside me this will be a bliss.

my brother is only 9 years old, he hasn't reached a stage where boys are afraid to nuts. according to some information, nuts can cause acnes and it's so funny that boys nowadays are taking a little more care about their appearance. in the other hand, my brother loves peanut, peanut brittle to be exact. he's a big fan of peanut, butterscotch, and caramel. so this cake is specially requested by him.

luckily, i have a peanut cupcakes recipe with caramel frosting. perfect combo. the recipe turns out nice as well, lovely taste. i decorated the cupcakes with choco-balls and carefully piped the frosting with star nozzle tip. the result is pretty decent and i quite like it at least i piped better than usual. i cut a lot amount of sugar from this recipe and i'm sure it's better this way. do you like peanut and caramel? you may try this recipe and find out the wonderfulness.

creme fraiche cupcakes

creme fraiche, i used this ingredient for the first time when i made strawberry brulee. this is one quite interesting thing. it is almost like cream cheese without the cheesy taste. i bought one package of creme fraiche and just used half for the brulee, so i still have another half left. i have been wondering what will i do with it since it will expire soon, it has a short shelf-life.

i have tried to browse some recipes about creme fraiche but mostly didn't suit my preferences. so i thought maybe it would be nicer if i can create a recipe by myself. as creme fraiche looks a little like cream cheese, i came up with cakes. coincidentally, it's been a while since the last time i bake cupcakes and actually i was kind of miss it. then, cupcakes it is!

this creme fraiche cupcakes' taste resembles yoghurt cake without the tangy feeling and replaced with creamy taste, almost like cream cheese cake but without the cheesy feeling. hmm, honestly it's hard for me to describe the taste. to complicate this cupcake, i decorated it with marble chocolate ganache and topped with fresh strawberries. hope you like it!

steamed (cup)cakes

lately these days, i don't know why i had a huge passion of making Indonesian cakes. so that.. yesterday, i tried making Potato Donuts but i don't have any report with me since i was not in the mood for taking pictures. today, i tried making steamed cupcakes/bolu kukus. i've never succeeded making anything steamed before, but in the contrary, i did it today. you can't imagine how happy i was that time, haha. even my parents laugh at me. that's why i really want to document everything here, yes here!

my dad once before when he was little had a little cake-shop, well actually it's my grandma's. as the result of that, my dad and aunts understand a bit on how to make cakes. the thing that i was going to say is, my dad gave me a comment for the steamed cupcakes, he said, 'you shouldn't be that happy, steamed cake is easy to make..' hahaha. i don't know if my dad's words are actually true, is that really true people?

well, i got the recipe from NCC mailing list. i guess the source come from Mbak Rina (click to see her blog..). i won't post you any recipe. the recipe is on Mbak Rina's blog, on her post called 'Bolu Kukus Mekrok'.

okay guys, i hope you also have a happy day just like mine.. thanks for reading! :)

cheesecake cupcakes

Hello everyone, it's been a while since my last post. holiday filled my house with some cakeries, so my mom said not to bake anymore. anyway, even it was late, but i'd still like to wish u all a Merry Belated Christmas and Happy belated New Year.

Yesterday, i made another cupcakes and another cheesecake. the first baked cheesecake i could make. actually this recipe was quite simple and delicious. unlike other cheesecake which taste a little heavy in our mouth, this one is so light. it just made from softened cream cheese, flour, sugar, and beaten egg whites. pretty delicious though..

lemon meringue cupcakes

first of all, sorry for the too many pictures i attached here and a too-long-post i wrote down here. i can't help my self! hoho ;p

i have always wondering how a proper lemon meringue pie would taste since i ever made that once before but i didn't like it. it's too sour for me, next time i'll try another lemon meringue pie recipe.

o yeah, the last time i told you that i want to make an okonomiyaki. darn! it's not delicious at all. hahaha. it was tasteless and i also didn't have my japanese seasoning here in my kitchen. should buy it! hehe.

i also just bought a new recipe book! yay! it's called 'The Golden Book of Patisserie', good book indeed. and inside i found lemon meringue bar recipe. BUT, i still haven't got too much time on making a bar. so today i made lemon meringue cupcakes for the warm-up (?). hehe.

(chocolate) oatmeal raisin cupcakes

not much too say since i'm in a rush to make a summary of my management and business lecture. so i'll quickly write this post. okay, today i almost fell asleep but my little brother didn't let me to so i started looking for something to occupy me. look for the recipe, search for the simple one, and here i come, cupcakes.. again and again but i was too lazy to make the frosting. hahaha.

chocolate cupcakes with liqueur icing

hey, this saturday i haven't made my floss bread. hahaha. i have a bad feeling with bread since i ruined my pretzel in wednesday. my boyfriend challenged me to make a pretzel that resemble "Auntie Anne's" because he is a big fan of it and on our latest date we bought that together. i've made it twice, but i haven't found the right temperature and timing on baking it. so i thought, it's better for me to take a step from yeast for a while. meanwhile, today i made chocolate cupcakes (honestly, cupcakes is a right thing to encourage my mood on baking, cause it's the only cake that i've never failed to make. hahaha). for the frosting, i used liqueur icing and sprinkles some chopped smarties on top of it.
