almost cinnamon rolls

this time i made cinnamon rolls, honestly this is my 2nd time making cinnamon rolls. the first and the second attempt is not quite different. both of them are so hard to eat since the first one i killed all of the yeast in a hot milk (i didn't even realize i killed them until they refused to rise) and the second one i overbaked them. haha. disaster..

yes, i overbaked my cinnamon rolls today and i also keep questioning why i couldn't produce a huge risen cinnamon rolls like the store-bought one. is that because of the cuts or the rolling process or is it the yeast (again)? but i quite believe that this time i did better than the first, i did half the process pretty satisfying. ah, if only i baked it in the right time and not misread the recipe i am quite sure they would turn out good. and if you notice the picture below, it has some liquid under the cirolls, it's my (also) faux icing by the way.. haha.

i got this recipe from The Pioneer Woman through Bakerella. but i cut down the recipe for one serving only, thank God (i couldn't imagine if i made lots of them and none of them succeed). if you see the original recipe, they look very yummy aren't they? they're huge and i believe they have a soft texture just like Cinnabon's and don't forget the frosting, oh my it's so sinful yet mouthwatering. okay, i guess enough for the blabbering..

i hope you enjoying the almost cinnamon rolls i made, thanks for reading..
HAPPY BAKING! :D

black glutinous rice porridge

not quite a big beginner luck for me today.. haha. for MasBar entry this month, i hate to say, i'm not really do well. this month's theme is Sweet Porridge and i was eager to make black glutinous rice porridge. main reason is because i like it, the other reason is because i have never made this before.

the way you're supposed to cook black glutinous rice porridge is different with how you cook the regular white rice porridge. in order to get the super smooth and mushy rice, you have to at least soak the glutinous rice overnight and drain them the next day. when you've finished drain them, that's the time it's ready to be cooked.

since i didn't know anything about cooking glutinous rice (and forgot to google it), i cooked them just like cooking white rice porridge. that's why it's not so mushy and a little weird for my taste. hahaha. the weird i mean here is that i found that i don't really like this glutinous rice porridge i made though generally i would really love to it black glutinous rice porridge. i'll cook it better next time..

chocolate ice-cream pancakes

few weeks ago, there's one recipe spread in KBB mailing list, it was this pancake.. this pancake recipe was taken from Alton-Brown Instant Pancake Mix recipe. modified by some of the KBB members, the original recipe makes a lot of pancake which my family won't be able to eat them out in one day. so i made very small amount of this pancake, it still could feed 3 regular-hunger stomach, i guess. hehe.

remember my last post about apple and cream cheese cake? i said i have no ice-cream in my fridge. yesterday, mom bought 4 litres Haagen Dazs. who can't resist Haagen Dazs?! coincidentally it can topped my pancake also.. mom bought 3 flavors of ice-cream, the one i chose is the chocolate chocolate-chip ice-cream. more to go, i added grated dark-chocolate and chocolate syrup. so today's breakfast menu is pancakes topped with 1 scoop of chocolate ice cream, grated dark-chocolate and chocolate syrup. extremely chocolate..

about the pancakes themselves, i don't know whether i made them in the right texture or not, all i know that this is one delicious pancakes recipe. i ever made pancake before but it was not as delicious as this. i think you should try this yourselves and prove their deliciousness. hihi.

apple and cream cheese cake

hello! :)
today i made apple and cream cheese cake. actually i have no plan making this cake, it just popped up in my mind last night because there's a leftover cream-cheese in my fridge and some tart apples. i like it though, the perfect combination of apples and cinnamon, as usual.

however, this is a butter cake. a cake that consists of a lot of butter as it main ingredients and i'm kinda sick with this type of cake since almost all of my cupcakes recipes are butter cakes. i've been loving the chiffon or angel food cake texture lately, they're lighter not like butter cake which are heavier in texture.

fortunately my daddy loves this cake, so does my sister. they said it would taste better if topped with vanilla ice cream or cold whipped cream. i couldn't be more agree with them! it must be more delicious with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. sadly, i don't have any of them with me..

cheese chiffon cake

hello again readers, April's came!
i've been experimenting with chiffon cake lately, with more egg whites of course. i always use the NCC's pandan chiffon cake base recipe with some modification. changing the pandan paste with strawberry paste, substituting coconut milk with fresh milk or even evaporated milk. i ever tried making rich vanilla chiffon cake on the easter. it tastes so good. but unfortunately there's no picture i could take, i just ate that in the night after i came home from my Good Friday mass. i know that i could wait til the next morning and took all the pictures, but everyone ate that so quickly, even my boyfriend ask me if he could brought some slices home and i gave him quarter pan. HAHA. i promise you i will bake that again and post it here proudly!

today, i tried cheese chiffon cake from Femina recipe book. i'm quite disappointed with the taste so do most people in my house and my bf included. except for my mom, she loves the not-so-tasty taste, well in fact she doesn't like sweets as much as savories and this time the chiffon is a bit salty, that's why she loves it. for more chiffon to go, i am planning on making cream cheese chiffon cake, cinnamon chiffon cake, and dark chocolate chiffon cake. they're all from KBB's members' blog. i'll post them too later, hmm i can't imagine how my blog will be full of chiffon cake later. hahaha.
